Sydney Catholic Schools’ first Eisteddfod

Students from 92 schools will grace the stage in more than 400 solo and ensemble instrumental, drama, dance and choir performances, as part of Sydney Catholic Schools’ first Eisteddfod. The Eisteddfod will be held over four Fridays at Sydney Catholic Schools’ first dedicated performing arts college, Southern Cross Catholic College Burwood, starting on 28 May. Stage 3 Newman

Stage 3 Newman students studied natural disasters in Science and Geography in Term 1. Their Newman task was to design and make a disaster detection system using Micro:bits. Students created some amazing prototypes which could be used to detect when an earthquake, flood or cyclone may occur.

Sydney Writers’ Festival

On Friday 30th April, 30 students from Years 3-6 attended a special excursion to the Sydney Writers’ Festival. The students travelled by train with their teachers to the Sydney Town Hall where they had the opportunity to listen to interesting and entertaining presentations from some popular children's authors and illustrators, including Emily Rodda, Jess Townsend, Kirli Saunders, Andrew McDonald and Ben Wood.
